Ever wanted to dig deeper into the Bible? Check out my new online course by clicking here.
Some Q&A:
Q: Who should take the course?
A: Anyone who wants to enrich their understanding of the Bible. The course helpfully introduces key concepts for those who are new to the Bible, but it also serves to deepen the interpretive skills of those who have read the Bible their whole lives.
Q: What's the format?
A: There are lectures with PowerPoints embedded in the video. The host website, Udemy, has a function that nicely merges the PowerPoints with video of the lecture.
Q: Are there any requirements or prerequisites?
A: No. If you are interested in the topic discussed, I do suggest some background reading that goes with each lecture. But those readings are not required. The course is an introductory level course, and so I try to make it clear and accessible to all potential students.
Q: Can I get any kind of college credit for this course?
A: No. Although the course could eventually develop in that direction, for now the course is intended solely for personal enrichment, just like a book or study guide that you'd buy in order to learn and grow on your own or in a Bible study.
Q: Why did you develop this online course?
A: I have a passion for equipping Christians to study the Bible and engage one another. But not everybody can come to Kuyper College and take my full-blown Introduction to Biblical Interpretation course (although if you can, we'd love to have you!). So I'm hoping that this course will be able to serve those who might not otherwise have access to this kind of training and thereby strengthen the body of Christ. Whereas some professors turn their course material into a book, I've opted to make the material available to the general public in this format.
Q: Can I preview some of the course before deciding to sign up?
A: Absolutely. There are a couple of lectures that you can preview for free. This will give you a feel for the course and help you decide whether or not to sign up. Simply go the course home page, and you'll see a few lectures labeled as free.
